“Companies considering work-at-home employment options for their staff need to beware that this doesn’t always guarantee an upside. It takes a certain type of person to be able to work effectively from a home environment, where distractions are many and management can be mouse-clicked away. For some, however, the chance to work from home elevates morale and loyalty to the company, actually resulting in even better job performance. The bottom line is to find the right people for home-based work and set up the proper telemanagement procedures to ensure a win/win for both company and staff.” —Internet Evolution - Peter Bowman - Home: The New Brick & Mortar

“Hypermiling has been selected as the Oxford Word of the Year 2008, or WOTY, according to the New Oxford American Dictionary’s blog. It says the word was coined in 2004 by Wayne Gerdes, to mean the “attempting to maximize gas mileage by making fuel-conserving adjustments to one’s car and one’s driving techniques.” —Hypermiling beats tweet and linkbait to become Oxford’s Word Of The Year | Technology | guardian.co.uk

Is France Due for Riots? - Freakonomics Blog - NYTimes.com

Commentaire laissé:
Bonjour.
Merci. As much as I can see the advantage for active participants and, even, ‘Get Satisfaction’ to not be subject to (too much) advertisement I see here a problem for companies at the origin of the ads themselves: who originally pays for ‘Get Satisfaction’ to remain online?
Mind you I’m not advocating advertisement here but wish to point out a problem of wrong (and simplistic) message being conveyed: implying that advertisement is plainly bad.

“Proposition 8, the proposed ban on same-sex marriage in California, has become the most expensive social-issue election in the history of the country, according to Bob Stern, president of the Center for Governmental Studies in Los Angeles. By Oct. 18, the campaigns for and against the proposition had raised a combined $56 million, nearly evenly split between the two sides.” —SFGate Data Center - Data and Searchable Databases
